Statement re: Senate Appropriations FY 2017 Mark for NIH

September 2016:  ACT for NIH congratulates and thanks Chairman Thad Cochran (R-MS), Vice Chairwoman Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), and the entire Senate Appropriations Committee for approving the $2 billion increase for NIH recommended by Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) in the Senate Labor-HHS Appropriations Subcommittee. Last year, Congress provided a historic, $2 billion increase for NIH – the largest increase for NIH since 2003. By recommending another $2 billion increase in fiscal year 2017, the Senate Appropriations Committee has demonstrated its commitment to restoring and sustaining the nation’s investment in life-saving biomedical research.
