Statement re: Senate Labor-HHS Appropriations Subcommittee $2 billion budget increase recommendation

June 7, 2016: The following statement may be attributed to Pat White, president, ACT for NIH:

“ACT for NIH congratulates and thanks Chairman Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-WA) for their continued bipartisan leadership to restore NIH funding. Last year, Congress provided a historic, $2 billion increase for NIH – the largest increase for NIH since 2003. By recommending another $2 billion increase in fiscal year 2017, the Senate Labor-HHS Appropriations Subcommittee has demonstrated its commitment to sustaining the nation’s investment in life-saving biomedical research. We urge the full Senate Appropriations Committee to approve this increase at Thursday’s markup.”
